What We Do
Welcome to The Galway Local, a cafe and grocery store in the town of Galway, NY serving our community of locals and visitors alike.
Our Café offers fresh, locally sourced and upscale dishes reflecting our European travels, as well as speciality coffee, diner classics, sandwiches, and salads. We are known for our fun and creative lattes and for our delicious local all-natural King Brother’s ice cream, including soft serve.
Our Grocery Store has all the essentials including fresh produce and local products such as honey, maple syrup, meat, milk and eggs.
Our Grab & Go makes life easier, with scratch-prepared meals, sides, and sweet treats to take home or on the road.
We offer loads of gluten free, dairy free, and meat free options in our Cafe and also in our Grocery and Grab & Go, so everyone can be looked after.
We are a meeting place for all the Community to come for a few minutes or a few hours, to chat with neighbors, make new friends, or take time away from the daily grind. Stop in and say hello!
Where It All Started
Owner Jessica Bellone grew up in the Catskills and Saratoga before moving to London to pursue a career in finance and property. She pivoted to hospitality where she trained professionally as a chef, gaining experience in some of the finest establishments in London.
As longtime seasonal residents of Galway, Jessica together with her daughters Georgia and Lauren, envisioned a place where locals and visitors alike could spend time together and strengthen the bonds of community over good food and a shared passion for local ingredients.
The Galway Local opened in November 2023 and has quickly become an essential meeting place for the community as well as a necessary stop for daily groceries, locally sourced items, and scratch-made meals.
Having lived abroad for many years, they bring a European sensibility to their food in the café, and a commitment to community engagement through their free and inclusive events.
